Help end youth homelessness
Sleep Under the Stars is an annual, experiential event, renowned for its community spirit and impact in addressing youth homelessness.
Held on Friday 1st November at Hickson Reserve, beneath the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sleep Under the Stars invites people of all ages to come together to participate in teams (corporates, families and young people) and experience building cardboard shelters in which to bunker for the night.
Young people are forced out of home due to family violence, family breakdown, sometimes even their sexuality. This is a reality shared by 1 in 200 Australians (ABS, 2018). At Sleep Under the Stars, you will hear firsthand from some of the inspirational people for whom homelessness was once a reality – including Event Ambassador Kyle Sandilands.
“When I was 16 years old and got my first job in radio I promised myself I would never have to sleep in a cardboard box again. However, this is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and show support for those struggling like I was so long ago. ” – Kyle Sandilands
By participating in Sleep Under the Stars, you can help provide a safer environment for kids to grow and become independent. Participants also wake up to a beautiful sunrise overlooking Sydney Harbour, a complimentary hot breakfast and new friendships.
Gather your friends, family and colleagues for a memorable night sleeping under the stars and help provide shelter, care and support for kids who need it most.
All members of the public are welcome to take part! Get involved, raise funds, and join the conversation to end youth homelessness at www.sleepunderthestars.com.au!
